it’s finally here!

Wow, it’s kinda been a while since I’ve posted here.

I’ve been so insanely busy, but wanted to share some of my latest stuff!  I finally got my new camera.  I bought a Canon EOS Rebel XS DSLR and love it!  It was delivered on Wednesday, so I haven’t had a chance to really take it out, but I got a few cute ones of the dog.

I hope you enjoy…

This weekend I’m heading to a few places around town to really see what this camera can do!

tomorrow

Tomorrow, hopefully will bring me a great day!  I have lots to do, but should be good.

I have a meeting with our Publications Board that I’m prepped and ready for.  We have new editors so we are going to go through the entire process of article submission, editing process, and ultimately the design process.  I am a firm believer that everyone should at least have a basis behind an entire project, so they understand why I hound them about deadlines! :)  I have cute little color coordinated packets for everyone – I’m very proud!

I also have some fairly large projects I’m working on.  Currently in the process of editing/updating a huge policy and procedures manual.  It’s taking forever…not difficult…but I kinda want to not work on it anymore!  I’m hoping my meeting won’t take long and I’ll be able to just plow through an finish it!  Oh, that would be so nice -  but I won’t count on it!

Um, also, I just remembered, I have a hidden webpage that I need to updated and make live…oh boy!  Yes, it’s going to be a busy day.  Maybe I won’t get all those edits done for the manual afterall.

Well, to top it all off, I will get to go for a nice run down by the lake!  That – I am very excited about!  It’s been a long time since I’ve had a decent run and an even longer time since I’ve run outside.  Due to the sweltering 105+ degree weather with an average for 60% humidity, the treadmill has been my only option…well, not tomorrow!  I’m sucking it up and going for it!

Oh boy, I’m in for it, aren’t I?  I have a feeling that a glass of wine will be my best friend tomorrow night! :)

road block

I’m in a funk, maybe it’s a block, a mental block, I dunno really – but it’s annoying!

I just finished a monthly newsletter and I’m doing some InDesign work for my day job, and I’m having a hard time finding my creative juice.  Ever get like that?

I started a new project.  I’m working on a promotional mock up for a club in an 80’s theme, and it’s not going well.  This is all I have so far…after 2 days…

80's

I’m thinking maybe I need to take a break for a day or two and regroup.  What do you do if/when you get that creative block?

twitter button

Ha, so I was a little bored, trying to kill some time, so I thought it would be fun to design a twitter button for the website.  Here it is:

Here’s the close up of the bird:

I just love fun little projects like that! :)

Here it is on the website.

newest project

I’m working on a new project!

I’ve been so tired of not having much artwork in my bedroom (I do have a REALLY cool piece I put together with some old vintage post cards, but that’s it).  So, I decided to make something…  The colors in the room are tealish, brown, and almost a pewter color.  I’m working on 3-5 mini pieces to frame.  I’m hoping to find some pretty pewter frames to match, but the colors I’m working with are:

6 colors

I’ll make sure to take some photos of the final project.  This will mostly be a graphic design project…which is not super new to me, but most my graphic design stuff is more professional, so we’ll see how this goes!

Wish me luck!

places to shoot and a flickr account

So, I’ve decided (especially since I don’t have my good camera yet) that I need to start writing down places that I want to shoot.  If you’ve ever been to Austin, you know that there are a lot of very unique and beautiful spots.  From the hills, and the country; to downtown high-rises, and east side train tracks.   On my way home from work today I noticed the most beautiful store front and sign.  I made a mental note and wrote down the street corner and store name.  I have a cute little notebook that I’m going to keep with me.  Any time I see a place (and I don’t have my camera with me) I’m going to write it down.  Ideally – I’d like to keep a camera with me at all times, I just don’t know how feasible that is!

OMGosh, I can’t wait to get my camera, it’s driving me crazy!!!

And, I just opened a flickr account.  Now, all the photos on the website, are steamed through flickr.  Sweet!!!  www.flickr.com/adrinahDESIGN

wish list and shout out

Ok, I call it a list, it’s not really a list, it’s one item, and I want it bad!  I was going to buy it for my birthday (yes, I still get money from my family for my birthday…lucky me), but wanted to save a little more before I bought it.  I hope to buy it sometime in the next few months.  Austin is gorgeous in the fall and winter, and I really want to be able to capture some of the beauty around me!

Anyways – I think this is the one I want: EOS Rebel XS 18-55IS

I enjoy taking photos of my surroundings the most.  I try to capture the beauty around me as well as how it makes me feel.  When I feel that I’ve done that successfully, then I feel I’ve created something beautiful!

I am absolutely amazed by those that can capture people.  My friends Jessica and Jason Williams (Session Nine Photography) are unbelievable – they really have a talent for capturing human beauty that I don’t see very often!  I highly recommend you check out their work, it really is beautiful work!

Just the beginning

Hello!

Ok, so I thought it would probably be a good idea to just start from the beginning!  My name is Jennifer, and I like to create things!  Ha, that sounds pretty funny.  When I was a kid, I loved writing, drawing…creating things really.  I used to take jeans and sew beads and lace on them to make them more “me”.  Well, turns out, that’s art! ;)  I started a website (www.adrinahDESIGN.com) to showcase some of my work.  Obviously, not everything is there.  Anything I have hidden away in a box or on a shelf, I will pull out to showcase, but most everything I have is recent.

I’ve recently ventured into photography, and LOVE it!!!  I’m in the process of saving to buy a new camera, and I can’t wait to get it!

I’m hoping that by having a blog, it will help get the word out a little more.

Let me know what you think!

I’m sure I’ll be around again really soon!

Oh, and btw – the website is up, but will be going through major construction over the next few weeks or so! :)
